What this directory is

AuctionDirectory.eu is an index of the auction platforms operating in Europe. It currently covers 435 auction platforms in 36 countries, from state customs and judicial sales to commercial industrial auction houses and dealer-only vehicle exchanges.

We do not run auctions and we do not sell anything. Each entry describes one platform: what it sells, who is allowed to bid there, what is added to the hammer price, and what collection involves. The aim is to answer those questions before you spend an afternoon registering for a platform that will not accept you.

Why an index is needed

The European auction market is fragmented by design. Enforcement and insolvency sales follow national procedure, so each country has its own portals, its own deadlines and its own language. A German customs auction, a Belgian bailiff notice and an Italian judicial sale have almost nothing in common operationally, and none of them appear in the same search results.

What we cover

• Specialised platforms for heavy machinery, vehicles, real estate, insolvency stock, consumer returns and collectibles.
• Access rules, which decide whether you can use a platform at all: open to private buyers, trade-only, or a notice board where the sale happens off-platform.
• State and judicial portals, which are often the highest-value and the least visible in ordinary search.

Who it is for

Business buyers and fleet managers looking for industrial assets and bankruptcy stock; private buyers after vehicles, tools or collectibles; and anyone trying to work out whether a cross-border purchase is practical before committing to it.

How we check every listing

“Verified” is a word most directories use without saying what it means. Here is exactly what it means on this site, and what it does not.

What we do for every entry:

These are two separate jobs, and every listing reports them separately, because they happen at very different speeds.

1. Website checked — automated, often.

• We load the site. Each platform is opened directly, and the screenshot on its page is the page as it actually rendered on the date shown under Website checked. If a site is unreachable or blocks us, we say so rather than showing a stale image.

• We re-check. An automated pass re-loads every entry and records the date its site last responded. Where a platform blocks automated requests we leave the previous date rather than claiming a check we did not make. When a platform goes offline or changes hands, the entry is corrected or removed.

This pass proves one thing only: the site is alive and still belongs to the operator we listed. It does not re-read anybody’s terms.

2. Bidding rules reviewed — by hand, and dated separately.

• We read the operator’s own pages. Access rules, buyer fees, deposits, VAT treatment and collection terms come from what the platform publishes in its own conditions — not from press releases and not from other directories. Where we quote a rule, the entry links to the page it came from.

• We record where it operates. Countries and map locations come from the address the operator publishes. Platforms that sell across Europe without a fixed saleroom are marked as such instead of being pinned to an arbitrary point.

• We say when we have not done it. A listing that shows Access not confirmed, or Bidding rules reviewed: not yet, means exactly that: the site is live, and nobody has yet sat down with its terms. We would rather leave the field visibly empty than fill it with a plausible guess — a wrong fee estimate costs you money, a missing one costs you five minutes.

What “verified” does not mean:

• It is not an endorsement. What we verify is that the platform is active and that its published contact and auction information can be confirmed. That is not an endorsement of the operator or of any individual lot. We are not affiliated with any platform listed here, we receive no commission on anything sold, and inclusion is not paid for.

• It is not a guarantee about any individual lot. Condition, provenance, VAT status and collection deadlines are between you and the auctioneer. Always read their terms before bidding.

• It is not a financial or legal opinion. Insolvency and judicial sales in particular carry rules that differ by country and sometimes by court.
