Auctions in Georgia

Georgia sits at the edge of what a European auction directory covers, and its market reflects that position. Three distinct channels operate here: the national e-auction portal for state and privatised assets, the City of Tbilisi's own agency disposing of municipal land and buildings, and commercial platforms trading vehicles, plant and property. There is no single register that carries all three, so a buyer works from several sites at once.

Land dominates by volume — the Tbilisi municipal catalogue alone runs to more than thirteen thousand plots — and much of it is offered in two forms that look similar and are not: outright ownership, or a right of use, which is a lease. That distinction is stated on every lot and is the first thing to read. Vehicle auctions are the other large category, and the make lists tell you what the market actually trades: European and Japanese cars alongside Soviet-era marques and a heavy presence of construction and agricultural plant.

Two practical points for anyone bidding from outside. Georgia is not in the EU, so a vehicle or machine bought here is a full import at the other end, with duty and VAT payable at the border. And agricultural land carries ownership restrictions for foreign nationals — establish your position before you bid rather than after the hammer falls. Almost everything is published in Georgian only.
