Auctions in Türkiye

Türkiye operates two large public auction systems that between them account for most of the country's formal auction activity. One handles judicial enforcement sales, disposing of vehicles, machinery and real property on behalf of the courts. The other covers public tenders and the sale of goods seized by customs — a category that in Türkiye includes substantial volumes of vehicles and consumer goods.

For a buyer, the attraction is volume and price; the complication is process. Both systems are designed for domestic participants. The interfaces are Turkish, registration is tied to national identification, and payment and deposit mechanics assume a Turkish bank account. Foreign buyers generally participate through a local representative rather than directly.

Export is the other consideration worth settling before you bid. Moving a vehicle or machine out of Türkiye into the EU means customs formalities on both sides, and for vehicles it means confirming that the paperwork supports export registration. The saving on the hammer price can be significant, but so can the cost and time of getting the asset home.
