Onlineveilingmeester.nl is a Dutch online auction house run from Groningen by Onlineveilingmeester.nl B.V., part of OVM Group. It sells on instruction from insolvency trustees, companies closing down or re-equipping, leasing firms, banks and public bodies. Since 1 November 2020 it has held the auction contract with Domeinen Roerende Zaken, the Ministry of Finance directorate that holds criminally seized and surplus state property; the contract was won again from 1 November 2024, so defence stock, government office inventory and confiscated goods are sold through this platform rather than a separate state sales site.

What you can buy

• Warehouse and lifting equipment: used forklifts, aerial work platforms, internal transport gear and industrial cleaning machines.
• Construction plant and tools: earthmoving and road-building machines, site equipment and hand tools from contractors and rental fleets winding down.
• Vehicles: used cars and light commercial vans in dedicated car-auction events, plus seized and surplus vehicles from the state.
• Complete production lines: whole factory inventories, such as a fruit processing and packing line sold off when the business stopped trading.
• Government and defence stock: military equipment and clothing, municipal, provincial and water-board surplus, found and confiscated bicycles.
• Business interiors: design and office furniture, catering fit-out and other business inventories.

How the bidding works

You register a free account before bidding, and participation is open to private individuals as well as companies, not limited to the trade. Lots run as timed online auctions: a bid placed in the last three minutes pushes the closing time back by another three minutes, and it keeps extending for as long as new bids arrive, so a lot ends only once bidding stops. Auctions have announced viewing days at the site where the goods stand, and a short, fixed collection window (afgiftedag) after the sale. Invoices are settled online, iDEAL included, and goods are released only after payment; you may send a carrier, a friend or a family member to collect, provided they bring the purchase invoice. Sales are staged in the company's own halls in Groningen, Heerenveen and Tiel or at the seller's own premises, so the collection address follows the individual auction rather than the head office. The platform is also served in English under the Auctionmaster.com brand, alongside German, French and Polish.

What to check before you bid

The buyer's premium depends on who the seller is, so read the conditions of the individual auction. At the operator's own themed and consignment sales it runs to around 22% including VAT on margin goods and 18% excluding VAT on VAT-liable lots, on a descending scale that falls to 10% from €25,000; auctions held for Domeinen Roerende Zaken are cheaper, at 10% on VAT goods and 12.10% on margin goods, and lower again on the state vehicle sales. Check per lot whether it is a margin item or a VAT item, because that decides what a foreign business can reclaim. Collection windows are counted in days and are fixed in advance, so arrange cross-border transport before you bid; if you cannot make the afgiftedag you have to agree an alternative with customer service. Lot detail is written in Dutch first, although the interface and the auction conditions are published in English. Machinery and vehicles are sold used and in the state they were in on the viewing day, with the buyer responsible for dismantling, packing and transport, so treat the viewing day as the only inspection you will get, and send someone local if you cannot attend.
