PS Auction — homepage

PS Auction is a Swedish online auction house run by PS Auction AB from Argongatan 6B in Mölndal outside Gothenburg, with more than 50 years in the auction trade and online sales since 2006, when it still traded as Auktionsfirman Pettersson & Son. Since 2022 it has been part of the Dutch auction group TBAuctions. Stock comes from bankruptcy estates handed over by court-appointed trustees, company wind-downs, and voluntary disposals of surplus and overstock by Swedish firms, finance companies, municipalities and public bodies. Lots close every day, and around 3,400 are open at any time, all located in Sweden.

What you can buy

  • Bankruptcy estates: whole inventories listed under the insolvent firm's name - property firms, restaurants, second-hand shops, bike dealers, print shops, e-commerce stock.
  • Workshop and industry: production machines, welders, compressors, measuring instruments, workbenches, tool cabinets, forklifts.
  • Construction: scaffolding, building materials, carpentry tools, containers, and a thinner stream of excavators, lifts and mobile cranes.
  • Restaurant and catering: commercial fridges, coffee machines, commercial kitchen machinery, restaurant and conference furniture.
  • Office, IT and shop fit-out: desks and chairs, shop fittings, servers, laptops, phones, stage and studio equipment.
  • Retail overstock: workwear, bathroom fittings, fasteners, flooring, garden furniture, heat pumps, cosmetics, textiles - often new, sold in pallet lots.
  • Vehicles: a small section - roughly twenty cars, plus trailers, boats, ATVs and snowmobiles.

How the bidding works

Registration is free and open to private individuals and companies; you must be 18, and Swedish residents can sign up with BankID. Sales are timed online auctions in Swedish kronor with a soft close: a bid in the last three minutes pushes the lot back to three minutes remaining. Three bid modes exist: Klassisk (proxy to your maximum), Bekväm (proxy that also weighs the reserve) and Aktiv (manual). Increments run from SEK 100 to SEK 10,000 depending on price level. Reserves are set by the seller, but well over half the open catalogue is flagged "inga reservationspriser" and carries none at all. If a reserve is missed your bid still stands: within three working days the seller either accepts and you are invoiced, or a PS handler calls to negotiate - no contact within those three days means the bid was refused. Bids are binding, and the invoice arrives the same evening; goods are not released until it is paid.

What to check before you bid

A service fee is added to every winning bid; it varies per lot and is quoted excluding VAT, so open the bid button for the real total. Swedish VAT is added to the hammer price unless the lot description says otherwise, and always to the service fee. EU companies need a valid VAT number: the VAT is deposited on the bid and refunded once export papers reach PS within two weeks, while EU private buyers simply pay it; outside the EU, written proof the goods left Sweden is enough. Exporting a Swedish-registered vehicle needs about two weeks with the Transport Agency, plus its own terms and fees. Goods sell as-is with an inspection duty on the buyer; viewings are held for some auctions only, and repair objects cannot be complained about. Collection is one fixed date at one address, often the bankrupt firm's premises rather than a PS office; bring tools, packing and lifting help. Late pickup costs up to SEK 500 excluding VAT per item per day. Shipping is available on roughly two thirds of lots, mainly from PS's own depots; the rest are pickup-only. An English interface exists at psauction.com, but descriptions and terms are Swedish-first.
