Stags has been auctioning in the English West Country for over 150 years and runs four distinct streams from one calendar. Two of them — livestock markets and grass keep — are categories that barely exist elsewhere in this directory, which is a reflection of how narrowly most European auction platforms specialise rather than of how small the market is.

How the bidding works

Each stream has its own page and its own rhythm: property auctions run to a published catalogue with legal packs, machinery sales run online or on the farm, and livestock follows the market calendar. Auction and market reports are published afterwards, which for the agricultural side is how the trade reads prices.

What to check before you bid

In a British property auction the legal pack is the disclosure and you are bound when the hammer falls — read it before, not after. Grass keep and standing crops are licences over someone else's land for a season, not an interest in the land itself; the terms of the letting are the whole of what you buy.
