Avalibérica

Avalibérica is a Portuguese auction house based in the Casal do Cego industrial zone outside Leiria, working the recovery side of the market: its own service lines are corporate strategy, servicing and recovery, and real-estate appraisal, with the auction room as the disposal end of that chain. The catalogue is unusually broad for a single operator — the same house sells industrial machinery, gold and wine.
What you can buy
- Property and rights (imobiliário e direitos): the flagship category.
- Vehicles and boats (viaturas e barcos).
- Machinery, equipment and tools from liquidations.
- Office, IT and communications equipment.
- Furniture and decorative items, textiles and footwear.
- Art, antiques, porcelain and faience.
- Gold and precious metals; classics and collectables.
- Wines and spirits (vinhos e aguardentes).
How the bidding works
Four formats run in parallel and they are not interchangeable: leilão eletrónico (online only), leilão eletrónico e presencial (online plus the room), leilão presencial (in the room), and carta fechada — a sealed-bid sale where you submit one written offer and there is no bidding round at all. A fifth channel, venda por proposta, takes offers on assets outside an auction, and an online shop sells at fixed prices. Registration is required. The site runs in Portuguese, Spanish, English and French.
What to check before you bid
Establish which format your lot is in before doing anything else, because a sealed-bid carta fechada gives you one shot at a number and no chance to react to a rival. On property, Portuguese recovery sales transfer the position of the estate, so the certidão permanente from the land registry is the document to read. Goods sit at the premises being cleared rather than at Leiria, so confirm the collection address on the lot.
