Bilweb Auctions

Bilweb Auctions AB has sold collector vehicles online since 2017 from Backa Bergögata 8 in Hisings Backa outside Gothenburg, as part of Bilweb Group. It sells in its own name for other people's account - private collectors, car dealers, finance and insurance firms, bankruptcy administrators and public authorities. Many lots stay with their owner for the duration of the sale, so listings name storage places all over Sweden, from Östersund to Påarp, and you collect from the address given in the winning e-mail.

What you can buy

  • Swedish classics: Volvo P1800 and 1800 ES, Amazon, the 1927 ÖV4 Jakob, the rare Volvo Sport P1900, Saab 96 Sport two-stroke, Saab 900 Aero T16, later 9-3 Aero and 9-4X.
  • American classics: Sweden's raggare scene keeps supply steady - Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Corvette, Dodge Challenger, some papered for historic racing.
  • Pre-war and 1950s European cars: a Mercedes-Benz 170 V Cabriolet from 1939, a 220 S Cabriolet, an untouched 300 "Adenauer" saloon, 190 SL roadsters.
  • Sports coupés and youngtimers: BMW 3.0 CSi E9 and 2002 tii Schnitzer, VW Karmann Ghia cabriolets, Lancia Delta Integrale, Renault Sport Spider and similar 1960s-2000s enthusiast cars.
  • Motorcycles and tractors: one sale carried 25 motorcycles, and entire collections appear, such as some 80 vintage tractors from a private museum, or a 1956 Porsche-Diesel.
  • Restoration projects: barn finds and non-running wrecks, tested only summarily and sold as repair objects.

How the bidding works

Registration is free and open to anyone over 18, private or trade; bidders show only a customer number, and bidding orders can also be e-mailed. Sales run in numbered monthly rounds; valuers appointed by the Chamber of Commerce test and describe each lot, in Swedish and English, and the site runs in German too. Closing is a countdown of at least two minutes; any bid in the final 70 seconds restarts it. The winner pays the inropsavgift, a buyer's fee scaled to the lot's assessed value and shown on each listing, within 24 hours, and the hammer price within five working days and before collection. Sellers pay 10 percent commission plus VAT, on top of a test-and-photography fee. Pickup normally falls five to ten days later, the contract is signed on site by you or an agent holding your power of attorney, and after 14 days a garage charge of SEK 100 per day starts.

What to check before you bid

Everything sells in befintligt skick, as is, and the description does not replace your own eyes: attend the announced viewing or send someone local. Your protection comes at handover: you may refuse a vehicle that materially differs from its description and get the fee and deposit back, but faults you could have spotted there stay yours. Because Bilweb refuses distance sales to consumers and has the contract signed on site, withdrawal rights for distance selling do not apply. Collector vehicles are sold gross with Swedish VAT included and not recoverable, marked "Moms: Nej"; only lots flagged "Moms: Ja" let a business deduct it, so treat VAT as a sunk cost. Export inside the EU carries no customs duty: you get the original contract and Swedish registration papers, show a passport or driving licence at pickup, return the plates within ten days, and post proof of home-country registration so the car can be deregistered - missing paperwork costs extra. Transport can be booked through partners Eurotransport and Scanlink.
