Cambra de Saigs d’Andorra

The saig is Andorra's court enforcement officer, and the Cambra de Saigs is the professional chamber the principality's saigs run between them. Its auction page is where every forced sale in Andorra is announced: there is no separate platform, no commercial intermediary and no other list. For a country of eighty thousand people that is enough — the calendar usually holds a handful of sales a month rather than a stream of lots.

What you can buy

• Vehicles — commercial vans and lorries in batches, and individual cars identified by registration plate.
• Flats and parts of buildings, often an undivided share rather than the whole property.
• Land, including partial shares of plots.
• Company shareholdings from enforcement against a business owner.

How the bidding works

Sales are held in person at the new courthouse in Andorra la Vella, at a stated time down to the minute — the calendar schedules them twenty minutes apart, so several lots run back to back on the same afternoon. Each notice states which round it is: a primera, segona or tercera pública subhasta. That matters, because the reserve drops with each unsuccessful round, and a third auction is where the starting price is at its lowest.

What to check before you bid

Read the notice itself rather than the calendar line. Andorran forced sales frequently offer a fractional share of a property, which leaves you co-owning with whoever holds the rest, and the notice is where that is spelled out along with any charges still attached. Everything is in Catalan. If you are coming from outside the principality, note that Andorra is not in the EU customs union — moving a vehicle out afterwards is an import.
