Campen Auktioner describes itself as one of Denmark's most versatile auction houses, and its seller pages back that up: it takes consignments from private individuals, from businesses and — as a separate category with its own page — from lawyers handling bankruptcy and closure estates. It works from Ryttervangen in Give, in the middle of Jutland.

How the bidding works

Register as a bidder to take part. The house publishes several things worth reading before you start: an explanation of its auction types, the terms, and a bid calculator (beregn dit bud) that shows what a given bid will actually cost you once fees and VAT are added. That last tool is unusually helpful — Danish auction costs are not obvious from the hammer price.

What to check before you bid

Use the bid calculator. Danish houses commonly add a buyer's premium and then charge 25% VAT on both the hammer price and the premium, which puts the invoice well above the number you typed.
