Fin Shop & Finimmoweb — homepage

Fin Shop is the disposal arm of the Belgian federal finance ministry (SPF Finances / FOD Financiën), and its stock comes from three places the ministry names openly: goods seized by customs or the police, estates that fell to the state with no heir, and equipment that federal departments no longer use. Movables go through Fin Shop; real estate goes through its sister site Finimmoweb.

What you can buy

  • Cars from seizures and from the federal fleet.
  • Phones, electronics and IT equipment.
  • Jewellery and clothing from customs seizures.
  • Office furniture from cleared government buildings.
  • Houses, land, administrative buildings and unusual properties through Finimmoweb.

How the bidding works

Three routes run in parallel, and the ministry says so plainly: an online auction, an online shop with a fixed price per item, and traditional public sales held in person. Which one applies is set per lot, so check the format before planning a bid — waiting for a fixed-price shop item to get cheaper is a wasted week. Real estate on Finimmoweb is sold by public sale rather than negotiation.

What to check before you bid

Seized goods are sold as they stand and the state gives no warranty on condition or provenance beyond what the lot description says. Fin Shop has regional salerooms, so a lot's collection point matters if you are travelling. The site runs in French, Dutch, German and English — the language switch is at the top — but individual lot descriptions are often only in the language of the office that catalogued them.
