GPSV

GPSV works a narrow, useful seam: ex-MoD, NATO, PLC and local authority trucks, plant, machinery and specialist vehicles, sold from a depot at Ingleton in North Yorkshire. The consignments are not always in Britain — a recent timed auction was a sale of MoD plant and vehicles located in Gibraltar, sold direct from the UK Ministry of Defence and government departments through their global contracts agent.

What you can buy

• Ex-military vehicles and equipment — Land Rover Defenders, JCB telehandlers, MoD plant.
• Forklifts, often in batches of identical units.
• Terminal tractors and shunters.
• Commercial vehicles, including specialist bodies such as recycling trucks.
• Cars and pickups from fleet disposals.

How the bidding works

Two channels run side by side: a standing stock list where items are priced on application, and timed online auctions that close on a stated date and time. The house runs monthly auctions and handles the whole disposal chain for sellers — valuation, collection, storage, marketing and the sale itself — which is why lots can be located anywhere its clients operate.

What to check before you bid

Location is the thing to establish first: an ex-MoD lot in a Gibraltar sale is not collected from Ingleton, and the shipping and customs position is entirely yours. Ex-military plant is sold as it comes out of service, which usually means mechanically sound and cosmetically hard-used, with no road registration history in civilian terms. Registration is required to bid and prices on the standing stock are quoted on request rather than published.
