SalvageMarket runs online salvage auctions across Britain, with several hundred lots live at once — 846 at the time of checking. The stock is what insurers and fleets write off: late-model cars with damage, including a great many hybrids and plug-ins, sold with their salvage category stated on the listing.
What you can buy
- Damaged and written-off cars, mostly recent — 2025 and 2026 registrations are common.
- Hybrids and plug-in hybrids, an unusually large share of the catalogue.
- HGVs and plant, in their own auction group.
- Registration plates.
- Unrecorded vehicles — damaged but not registered as a total loss — filtered separately.
How the bidding works
Lots close on a clock with the current bid and bid count visible before you log in, which makes the market readable without an account. The site provides filters that matter in salvage: starts & drives, unrecorded, highest value, just added. Each lot shows its storage location — Halifax and other regional sites — because that is where you collect from.
What to check before you bid
The salvage category is the single most important field on a UK salvage listing: Category S means structural damage, Category N non-structural, and both must be recorded before the vehicle returns to the road. Category B and A vehicles cannot be returned to the road at all. An electric or hybrid write-off carries battery risks that a photograph will not show. Registration is required to bid.
