SellMyLivestock is the online livestock marketplace for British farming, and its auction product is the part that belongs in this directory. Live listings are exactly what you would expect — three Dexter breeding cows with calves at foot at £680 a head, from a farm in Gloucestershire — sold into a network the company puts at more than 160,000 active farm decision makers.
What you can buy
- Cattle, including breeding stock with calves at foot.
- Sheep.
- Other farm livestock traded between holdings.
How the bidding works
The timetable is fixed and worth learning: self-serve auctions go live when the seller is ready and run for seven days by default, managed auctions usually start on a Friday, and all auctions end on Thursdays at 7pm. Sellers choose between running the auction themselves or a managed service where the platform handles setup, listings and buyer communication. Listing upgrades start at 1% with no sale, no fee, subject to an £8,000 transaction limit.
What to check before you bid
Livestock is the one category here where the paperwork travels with the animal: holding registration, movement licences and health status are legal requirements in Britain, not optional extras. The platform verifies buyers, but the movement rules are yours to comply with. Animals stay on the seller's farm until collection, so haulage is a real cost on a small lot.
