Stadssalg runs online auctions across the whole length of Norway — the live board carries lots standing in Tromsø, Bodø, Trondheim, Bergen, Ålesund, Porsgrunn and Oslo Skedsmo at the same time. The listings are unusually transparent for a vehicle auction: the current highest bid is shown on every lot, in kroner, whether that is 4,000 for an old SsangYong or 401,000 for a nearly new Bobcat.

What you can buy

• Vans, with Mercedes Vito and Peugeot Expert fleets appearing regularly.
• Motorcycles.
• Construction plant, including mini excavators.
• Found and unclaimed property (hittegods) sold on behalf of Norwegian organisations — bicycles in batches, for instance.

How the bidding works

Each lot shows the highest bid so far and its auction date, and plenty carry Auksjonsdato: Ikke fastsatt — no date set — which means the lot is live and accumulating bids before its closing date is fixed. Others are marked Klar for salg, ready to sell. Objects have ID numbers you can search directly. Registration is required to bid.

What to check before you bid

Distance is the practical constraint: a lot in Tromsø and a lot in Oslo are two thousand kilometres apart and the price does not include getting it home. Norway is outside the EU, so a vehicle bought here and taken into the Union is an import with duty and VAT at the border. The site is in Norwegian.
