Watts & Associates runs plant and machinery sales built around a three-day structure that is worth understanding before you plan a trip. Day one is a live webcast sale of the big items — large plant, agricultural machinery, tractors, grounds maintenance kit, access equipment, trailers and vehicles. Days two and three are timed sales that end in the morning: tools and consumables on one, builders' equipment, garden machinery, attachments and micro plant on the next.

How the bidding works

Registration to bid is required. Viewing runs over two full days before the sale — Thursday and Friday, 9am to 5pm — covering all three days' catalogues at once, which is the efficient way to do it. The firm publishes separate catalogues per day and handles transport and exporting as services.

What to check before you bid

Mixing up the formats is the easy mistake: day one is live and moves at the auctioneer's pace, days two and three close on a clock in the morning and reward a maximum bid left the night before.
