Maximovalor is a Portuguese auction house operating out of Porto, working the same recovery and insolvency market as its Lisbon and Leiria counterparts but from the north. Its calendar is organised by format rather than by asset type, which tells you how it works: the same estate may be offered in the room, online, by sealed bid or by negotiation, depending on what the administrator decides will realise most.
What you can buy
- Property from insolvency and recovery processes.
- Machinery and business equipment from liquidations.
- Vehicles from company estates.
- Opportunities (oportunidades): a standing section of assets outside the scheduled auctions.
How the bidding works
Four routes run side by side — leilões presenciais, leilões eletrónicos, carta fechada and negociação particular — and each sale is published with its closing date and time. An account is needed to take part. Individual sales are named after the estate they come from, which makes it straightforward to follow everything from one insolvency.
What to check before you bid
Because sales are named by estate rather than by category, a single wind-up can produce lots across several formats and closing dates; check whether the item you want is part of a group being sold together. Sealed-bid sales are decided on one written offer, so there is no second chance. Portuguese insolvency sales transfer the estate's position — on property that makes a land-registry check a precondition, and on machinery it means no warranty and no service history.
