Bankruptcy is the main source of asset auctions in Denmark, and the market is organised around it — houses run separate konkursauktioner streams, distinct from the surplus sales they hold for companies still trading. The distinction matters to a buyer. A surplus lot comes from an operating business that can answer questions about it; a bankruptcy lot comes from a trustee who took over days earlier and generally cannot. Both sell as they stand, but collection windows on bankruptcy lots are fixed by the trustee's arrangements rather than by the auctioneer, and they do not move.
