VEBEG GmbH is the disposal company of the German federal government, wholly owned by the Federal Republic of Germany and based at Rödelheimer Bahnweg 23 in Frankfurt am Main. Stock comes from over 10,000 client organisations, mostly public bodies: the Bundeswehr and Bundespolizei, federal and state ministries, state and municipal authorities, waterways and shipping offices, customs and tax administration, road maintenance depots, the THW, plus NATO headquarters, British Forces and the US Army Europe fleet management (IFMS). Several hundred lots run at a time across 38 categories.

What you can buy

• Cars and vans: passenger and estate cars from VW, Ford, Renault, Opel and Mercedes, semi-new cars under 24 months, electric cars, minibuses, off-road vehicles and SUVs, light commercials from Iveco, Fiat and Citroen.
• Trucks and special vehicles: Mercedes, MAN, Iveco and Unimog trucks, buses, trailers, fire engines, ambulances, gritters, sweepers and refuse trucks.
• Construction and agriculture: Liebherr and Volvo machines, Linde and Still forklifts, tractors by John Deere, Fendt, Deutz-Fahr, Kubota and Massey-Ferguson, municipal and forestry equipment, working platforms.
• Technical equipment: workshop machines and tools, generators and electric motors, radio and communication gear, test instruments, catering kitchens, IT and office equipment, medical and laboratory devices, photo and optical gear, printing machines.
• Aircraft and ships: helicopters, aeronautical parts, boats, maritime technology, railway vehicles.
• Materials and kit: clothing and textiles, camouflage nets, tyres and complete wheel sets, engines and spare parts, batteries, scrap metal, scrapped coins, precious metals, furniture, watches, collectables.

How the bidding works

Since 1 January 2022 VEBEG sells only to businesses within the meaning of §14 BGB and to public-law legal entities acting in that same business capacity. Private individuals can neither register nor bid, private accounts cannot be converted, and registration requires a VAT ID and/or tax number plus proof of trading activity. You are then sent a separate bidding PIN and must return a signed receipt confirmation before the account is unlocked. Most stock goes by sealed-bid tender: offers stay hidden until closing time, your last bid counts, and you can change or delete it up to the deadline. Live auctions run in real time from a published start price in set increments, and a bid there binds you until someone outbids it. Spot sales take no online bids at all: you send in a bid form, offers are assessed at once and accepted if they meet VEBEG's price expectation. Reserve prices are never published; past hammer prices are, and they are the best guide to value. The highest bidder is notified in writing within seven days. VEBEG keeps no warehouses, so you collect from the barracks, depot or office named in the lot text.

What to check before you bid

There is no buyer's premium and no fees, only German VAT. Lots flagged zollgestellungspflichtig are not in free circulation: they must be presented to the customs office named in the lot text under a written declaration, and goods taken over from NATO or US forces stocks additionally need customs form 0215 and a deposit covering the expected import duties before collection. Anything marked ausfuhrgenehmigungspflichtig needs a BAFA export licence. Goods are sold as they stand: no test drives, no function checks, and condition notes come from the disposing office, not an inspection. Assume repairs and missing parts; view in person by appointment. Paperwork varies: Bundeswehr vehicles carry a Zentrale Militärkraftfahrtstelle certificate for the §21 StVZO test, British Forces vehicles a Certificate of Origin plus Hauptzollamt Frankfurt clearance, US Army IFMS vehicles a Certificate of Ownership. Tanks, warships, combat aircraft and KWKG weapons are never offered. An English version of the site exists, but lot texts and viewing arrangements stay German.
